The year was 1999. Cher’s Believe and TLC’s No Scrubs were burning up the charts. It was the best movie year ever. Gas cost $1.17 a gallon. And, an intrepid group of young evaluators came up with Getting to Outcomes. As part of the year-long celebration of 20 years of GTO, we were able to present at the American Evaluation Association’s annual conference in Minneapolis, with a specific focus on the use of GTO in educational settings. Our friend Annie Wright shared how her team at SMU’s CORE center used GTO in their work. We were also able to hear from David Fetterman about how GTO has helped to move the field of empowerment evaluation forward.
